Who is eligible to apply to CBS courses?
Graduates with qualifications in any field of study from recognized universities
are eligible to apply. Students appearing for their final degree exams
in 2008 are also eligible to apply. [Up]
APPLICATION PROCESS
How do I apply to CBS?
You may download the application from www.cbs.org.in. Application forms
may also be collected in person from the CBS office on payment of Rs.
1,000/- by cash/demand draft. Application forms duly filled in, along
with all necessary enclosures are to be sent to: Admissions Officer,
Chennai Business School, CBS House, 48, Velachery Taramani Road,
Velachery, Chennai 600 042.
What are the documents that need to be sent with the application form?
You need to enclose the following with your application (photocopies only):
i) If you have downloaded the application form from the net, a demand
draft for Rs. 1,000/- in favour of Chennai Business School, payable at
Chennai.
ii) Degree certificate, mark sheets of all the years of undergraduate
study (B.A., B.Sc., B.E. etc.) and Plus 2 final exam results. Those appearing
for final degree exams in April 2008, need to submit exam results and
mark sheets, as soon as results are available.
iii) Two reference letters from people known to you
iv) Supporting documents of any extra-curricular achievements
v) Two copies of recent passport-size photograph (one pasted on the application
form)
vi) Sponsorship letter from authorized person of employer, if sponsored
by employer
Result letter, if any, of the management admission tests taken by you,
like GMAT/CAT/XAT/MAT/ATMA.
May I send additional material after I have sent my application?
Yes, you may send them giving the date reference of your application.
Can I reapply?
Yes, you may reapply for any future offering. [Up]
DEADLINES
What are the application deadlines and dates?
Completed applications with all enclosures to reach CBS office latest
by June 15, 2008.
Selection process commences April 1, 2008.
Fees in full are to be paid within 7 days from the date of admission letter.
Programs commence by mid July 2008. [UP]
SELECTION CRITERIA
What are the selection criteria used for evaluating applications?
The following selection criteria are used for evaluating applications:
i) Academic record – university rank holders will have fast track
entry
ii) Leadership qualities as evidenced by achievements in
a) Debates, quizzes and publication of articles
b) Sports
c) Arts and other cultural activities
iii) Group discussion
iv) Personal interview
Those with good scores in Management admission tests like GMAT/CAT/XAT/MAT/ATMA
etc., will have an advantage.
Personal qualities that CBS looks for
Intelligence, a keen interest to learn and motivation to perform in the
chosen area of specialization, analytical ability, aptitude and attitude
will form the basis for our evaluation of the applicant.
What kind of work experience is CBS looking for?
CBS encourages fresh graduates as well as working professionals to apply

CBS offers nine programs as follows:

Generally, students will be evaluated based on the following:
i) Participation in class discussions/workshops etc.
ii) Assignment/Project reports and presentations
iii) Quizzes/Mid-term tests

FACULTY
CBS Faculty Team consists of outstanding professionals both from academia
and industry. Part of the program will be delivered by academic faculty
while the specialized courses will be delivered by industry professionals.
The faculty team is headed by the Dean, and is guided by Chairmen of Knowledge
Varsities – HR, IT, ITES, Marketing, Marcom, Retail, Telecom, Insurance and Banking & Financial Services
– each person distinguished in his/her area of specialization.

INFRASTRUCTURE
The city campus of CBS is located in Chennai on Velachery Taramani Road,
south east of the city. It is just minutes away from the Madras University
new campus, National Institute of Fashion Technology and Amercian International
School. The campus is opposite to the Velachery Campus of Tata Consultancy
Services. Campus facilities include:
i) State-of-the-art classrooms with facilities for a learning ambience
ii) A well-stocked library
iii) Cafeteria
iv) Wi-Fi environment
The main campus is planned to be set up in the knowledge corridor on the
outskirts of Chennai. [Up]
CREDENTIALS
How is CBS different from other Business Schools?
i) CBS is promoted and run by captains from industry and one half of the
courses are taught by industry professionals. This will ensure that the
curriculum is industry-oriented and students will be ready for the real
world jobs from the day they pass out
ii) Since senior persons from industry are involved in teaching at CBS,
placements will almost be certain for students who perform well. In fact
50% of the first batch of CBS students were assured placements from industry
on the very first day of the course
iii) With specialization in selected verticals, CBS graduates can expect
faster career growth in their chosen area of specialization
Thus, since CBS curriculum is tailored to meet industry requirements,
CBS has not sought approval for its programs from AICTE.

FEES
What is the fee structure?
For all full-time programs, Rs. 3, 25,000/-* (inclusive of service tax). In addition Rs. 15,000/-
towards cost of study materials, electronic library and other administrative support costs.
All candidates are required to have a laptop. The laptop should be Wi-Fi
enabled with the following minimum specifications:
i) Intel Centrino processor
ii) 256 MB Ram
iii) 40 GB HDD
iv) Windows XP Professional OS
v) Microsoft Office XP pack (student edition)
As a policy, CBS recommends use of licensed software only.
